Special: Appropriate Technology Expo:  Meet the Makers

Engineers Without Borders invites you to meet the engineers who are designing technologies that are saving the environment and making a real difference in the lives of developing communities. This interactive expo will give students the chance to use demonstration models, construct small scale technologies, and quiz these innovative designers.

Some of our exhibitors include:

B2P Testing

B2P has developed rapid, quantified, bacterial testing systems for potable, recreational and environmental water, grey, recycled water and effluent, milk/cream, solids such as chicken, milk powder, shellfish and fish, fresh produce and red meat that can be used in the field simply, anywhere, anytime and anyplace.

Future Spark

Imagine if you could generate electricity just by pedalling. The Future Spark vision is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by engaging and informing as many people as possible through a Human Powered event. The Future Spark Power Trailer has 12 bikes, each connected to a generator positioned behind each bike.

The CERES Electric Car

A group of volunteers at CERES Community Environment Park in East Brunswick recently converted a Citroen Berlingo from a petrol powered motor to an electric motor, paving the way for more environmentally sustainable transport in the future.

Spokes in the Wheel: EWB Local Project

Spokes in the Wheel is and EWB Local Project to help teach refugee Kids how to ride bikes? As part of the Spokes in the Wheel project in Melbourne. Victorian EWB members are recycling bikes and teaching young Sudanese kids to ride. See this exhibit to see how EWB’s local programs are run and how you can get involved.

Red R

RedR Australia provides emergency assistance to communities devastated by conflict or major natural disasters by selecting, training and providing competent and effective personnel to humanitarian relief programs worldwide. RedR Australia maintains the Register of qualified personnel. The skills, knowledge and expertise of RedR Australia Register members are crucial to ongoing humanitarian efforts around the world.

Bushlight

Bushlight is an innovative renewable energy project which aims to increase access to sustainable energy services within remote Indigenous communities across Australia. Bushlight does this with a strong focus on community engagement in the energy planning process, and by designing robust, technically advanced renewable energy systems. Bushlight is a project of the Centre for Appropriate Technology Inc. (CAT), based in Alice Springs. We have regional offices in Darwin, Derby and Cairns.
